Introduction

Hello! This blog is about my GPP practice experience in Chiapas, Mexico with Fundacion Cantaro Azul. As part of the Global Poverty and Practice minor at UC Berkeley, I chose to work with this NGO for 6 weeks in the summer. The GPP practice experience is an opportunity for students to connect the theory and practice of poverty action through working with an organization that focuses on poverty action.

After making preparations throughout the school year and having various conversations with other GPP students and peer advisors about poverty action, voluntourism, and the minor, I chose to work with Fundacion Cantaro Azul in Chiapas, Mexico. FCA is an NGO that focuses on improving access to clean drinking water in rural communities. If you’d like to learn more about FCA, you can visit their website: http://www.cantaroazul.org/
